Johnson Ho leads the ensemble at the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival Grand Opening
As Music Director, Johnson plays an important role in shaping Hong Kong’s cultural celebrations. From flagship events like the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival to community programmes funded by EPD and ECF — where he composed original music and directed performances such as the Food Recycle Music Carnival — he curates projects that balance artistry with precision. His direction also extends to smaller but meaningful occasions, including serving as Music Director for the live band at the Bianca Wu Charity Performance, underscoring his ability to design musical experiences that resonate across audiences and contexts of different scales
Johnson’s approach as Music Director is shaped by collaborations and stage experience. He has worked with Hong Kong musicians such as Nate Wong, Poh Chaichon, Scott Murthy, Shaun Thomas, and Geoff King Luk, and led bands at Freespace Jazz Fest, Art Basel Hong Kong, and the NAMM Show. Beyond his directing work, Johnson also performs as a musician in pop concerts, including the 《龍威武 三個好歌男人演唱會》 with Lee Lung Kei (李龍基), Willy (威利), and Cheung Mo Hau (張武孝), as side man for Steve Wong Ka Keung (黃家強) of Beyond, and with Teddy Robin at Fringe Club shows. He has composed and arranged for Maggie Cheung (張曼玉) on a private project,(still in private development) and served as arranger for movie director Tsui Siu Ming’s large-scale performance. These experiences sharpen his directing: clear structure, strong sound, and emotional flow.
